I Am Morbid, an extension of Morbid Angel, played House of Blues San Diego 11/24/2024, you already know S.O.S. needed to cover it!
Have you ever listened Death Metal? Death Metal has been one of the most influential genres over the years, branching out into sub-genres such as "Deathcore" and "Deathgrind." In the Death Metal world, Morbid Angel is, to this day, one of the most successful bands, Their punchy bass, suspenseful chords, and rapid blast beats make for an addictive listening experience. Luckily, I Am Morbid took the stage in our hometown San Diego.
During this live show, we experienced anger, hatred, and mortal evil. The crowd was moshing, the vocalists were screaming their lungs out, people were spilling their drinks, and that is all thanks to the House of Blues SD.

I Am Morbid really showed everyone how to rule metal performances. Just the classic riff from their hit, "Immortal Rites" sent the crowd into a gleeful, nostalgic state.

The openers were nothing less than the utmost melodical and doomy bands to play. We first started off with Knoll, a grindy death metal band with a tinge of noise. The icing on the cake? Knoll performs on a dimly lit stage, with only a lamp and pieces of furniture surrounding them. Knoll’s act was definitively, the most idiosyncratic performance of the night. The next act, Mortiferum, was a funeral doom metal band. Mortiferum started in 2016, eventually signing to a record label by the name of Profound Lore Records. The swinging hair and slow, chugging riffs made the crowd head bang like no other. Who played next? Uada. Uada had arguably, one of the most beautiful metal compositions of this lineup. They entered the stage with masks on then went on to play unique, swift, melodic black metal songs that had classical influence.
Suffocation was a huge part of the night. Along with their committed fans, their roaring bass shook the walls of the entire venue and rattled the bar's wine glasses.

Overall, this night was exemplary, and I would love to experience it again!
